Costa Rica is nestled in Central America, with Nicaragua to the north, Panama to the south, the Pacific Ocean to the west and south and the Caribbean Sea to the east.

The east coast region is covered with the swampy terrains surrounded by tropical forests, while its capital city of San Jose is nestled in a highland area. This country’s varied landscape includes majestic mountain ranges, cascading rivers and volcanic peaks, not to mention an abundance of beaches, coastal jungles, and the savannah forests. With up to one quarter of their land being protected areas and national parks.

Unlike most other Central American countries, present-day Costa Ricans are mainly of European descent; Spain being the primary country of origin. . Costa Rica stands proudly for conserving and believing in animal and nature rights and hence Costa Ricans are proud of their captivating country and are renowned to be polite, friendly and helpful to visitors.

With its Geographical position, Costa Rica is a gold mine of nature. Endangered animals such as the green turtle can be located here, as well as logger head turtles, big cats, tapirs and a wide array of birds and reptiles, not forgetting the spectacular variety of moths and butterflies.

Costa Rica has achieved a high standard of living compared to its neighboring countries. Its capital city, Santa Ana is famous for creating ceramic items like urns, serving dishes, coffee mugs, ware bowls along with típico houses made from brick kilns and clay pits.

The country’s mountainous terrain and abundant rainfall have permitted the construction of a dozen hydroelectric power plants, making it largely self-sufficient in electricity, but it is completely reliant on imports for liquid fuels. Costa Rica has the potential to become a major electricity exporter if plans for new generating plants and a regional distribution grid are realized. This is already boosting the economy making it a brilliant time to invest.

Costa Rica is situated close to the Equator, causing it to maintain Mild subtropical conditions all year-round. With fluctuations occurring due to altitude rather than climate change. With the average temperature being around 28 degrees Celsius, falling to as low as 14 in the mountainous regions.
