Romania’s Climate is very similar to the Northern United States, by having four distinct seasons.  Spring is pleasant with cool evenings and morning and warm days. Summer is mainly warm, with extended sunny days. The hottest areas in summer are the lowlands in southern and eastern Romania where 100 F has been reached in July and August. Temperatures are generally cooler in the mountains at this time of year. Autumn is dry and cool, much like New England. Winters can be cold, mainly in the mountains. Abundant snowfalls may occur throughout the country, from December to mid-March.

Throughout the year, Romanians celebrate a lot of their ancient heritage, changing seasons, religious holidays and life-cycle events, with festivals that have remained unchanged for centuries. Some of Europe's most traditional folkways are meticulously preserved here, with young celebrants wearing the same costumes and dancing the same steps to tunes played on instruments traditional to their forefathers.

Some say that Transylvania sits on one of earth's strongest magnetic fields and its people have extra-sensory perceptions. Vampires are believed to hang around crossroads on St. George's Day, April 23rd, and the eve of St. Andrew, November 29th.
